Leveling the Playing Field: Essential Accommodations for Dyslexia in the Classroom

Access to the general education curriculum is a popular topic among stakeholders in states with dyslexia legislation. Our students must receive a full dyslexia remediation program. Dyslexia intervention is only one part of the puzzle. What happens during the other 4 to 5 hours of the school day? As Certified Academic Language Therapists, SLPs, and teachers trained in evidence-based dyslexia intervention, we can bridge the gap. Accommodations are essential tools that help students continue learning and participating while closing the reading, writing, and spelling gap.
