Location: VIRTUAL

Time: 6:30PM-8:30PM
Hosting Organization: ALTA Missouri Chapter
Description: Many students experience difficulty mastering the concepts and skills
around multiplication and division. Not only mastering fact fluency
can be a challenge but mastering the directionality and sequence of the
operations can cause stress and anxiety. Students really need to
understand the underlying concepts and be able to reason
mathematically. These skills are important for success in higher level
math. Strategies which utilize excessive language may work for some
but they also fail many. We also know that skip counting is inefficient
and does not teach multiplication facts. This webinar will offer
multiple strategies for supporting students with special needs as they
seek to master these topics and skills in a humane and reliable manner.
We will explore evidence based strategies for addressing these
strategies using multiple avenues including the use of manipulatives to
illustrate the concepts themselves. Join us for an evening of hands-on
instruction and practice.
