Action Research

Event Name: Action Research
Sponsor: Rawson Saunders School
Type: Continuing Education
Chapter: Texas
Contact Hours: 8
Dates / Times: Monday, April 13, 07:30 AM - 04:00 PM
Description: The teachers and ALT's at Rawson Saunders School are engaged in action research projects to address authentic problems of practice. Each faculty member formulates an action research question relevant to his/her professional work, collects data to better understand the problem, implements action plans based on that data, and evaluates results. We engage in reflective dialogue throughout the process, and then the methods and results are presented schoolwide on Action Research day. Examples of action research questions currently being studied include: How can approaching my math content as storytelling create more positive problem-solving experiences for my students? How do our students respond to the use of music and additional multisensory methods during ALT? How might we use questioning to support students in developing concept imagery and comprehension? What strategies help our students manage time and gain independence in the classroom?
