Pre-Flight Overview
Pre-Flight is open to CALTs and CALTs in training. This workshop addresses three major components of reading instruction: Alphabet Knowledge, Phonological Awareness, and Reading Comprehension. It is designed for kindergarten or first-grade students who struggle with reading and may continue into the Take Flight program. According to evidence-based research, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, and oral language are key components that contribute significantly to the effectiveness of beginning reading and spelling instruction. You will learn a combination of instructional techniques in each of these essential pre-reading and reading components through direct instruction and demonstration.
