How It All Began; An Unfinished Journey Margaret Smith; Judith Birsh, Ed.D., CALT-QI

Margaret Smith and Geraldine "Tincy" Miller will relate their work and the work of other Texas Pioneers in promoting ALTA and the field of dyslexia in the state of Texas, leading the way to change that has impacted and continues to impact the field of dyslexia nation-wide!

Author of Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills, Dr. Birsh will share her personal story: travelling from New York to Dallas to study with Aylett Cox, joining ALTA, establishing teacher training at Columbia University Teachers College, and editing a textbook which would change the future of teacher education based upon the science of reading.
