Minimum Requirements for Qualified Instructor (QI)
Completed application for QI membership
A copy of CALT certificate
A copy of current ALTA membership card (member for at least 2 years)
Certificate of completion of minimum requirements for Instructor of Therapy from an approved training course signed by the course Director and/or overseeing QI
QI training start date and end dates meet minimum two (2) year requirement and goes no longer than five (5) years
QI training includes both introductory and advanced levels
A copy of graduate degree from an accredited public or private institution of higher education (IHE) in education or a related field
Documentation of 1400 academic language therapy teaching hours and therapy situations beyond CALT certification signed by overseeing QI (use log form attached to application)
Show a minimum of 700 hours before enrolling in QI program
Show a minimum of 3 curriculum completions
Show situations that include various levels and ages
Show a minimum of 75 hours in a one-to-one situation
Show a minimum of 75 hours in a small group setting (6 or less)
A minimum of three (3) of lectures (reading, spelling, and one topic chosen by the intern) presented to a class by the intern as recommended by the training course director. Additional and/or video recorded lectures may be requested.
Lecture notes/outline of the three (3) lectures submitted (reading, spelling, and one topic chosen by intern), Complete log provided,
Written critiques of submitted lectures by the supervising Qualified Instructor
Copies of ten (10) guided evaluations of trainee demonstration/observation lessons with comments written by the Qualified Instructor intern and signed by the supervising QI. Complete log provided
Copies of ten (10) independent evaluations of trainee demonstration/observation lessons with comments written by the intern. Complete log provided.
Five (5) final exam questions and answers for introductory students written by intern.
Five (5) final exam questions and answers for advanced students written by intern.
Five (5) current (published within the previous five years) research articles and provide bibliography only.
